This has been one of the longest, coldest winters we have had in years.  The Chicago area hasn't seen this much snowfall since 1978, the 3rd snowiest winter on record.

Along with all of the snow and ice comes the potential for damage due to the weight of ice and snow or post-snow flooding.  Before you bring clean out the garage and get your summer motorsports ready for the road and trail be sure to read our top 3 loss prevention tips.

• Inspect your roof for signs of sagging and leaks, and listen for popping or cracking sounds.
• While on the ground, use a roof rake to clear excess snow from your roof, or hire an insured and bonded professional to do it for you.
• Clear your gutters, downspouts, and surrounding areas of ice and snow.

If you are unable to perform any of these tasks if is recommended to contact a professional.
